How to choose a frame

The frame should be chosen according to the colours of the subject, personal taste and location in a given environment, but there are some basic rules to follow.

First of all we have to understand what we are going to frame.
If we are going to frame a photo, a silk-screen print on paper, an engraving, etc. .... in general everything that is not thicker than 3 mm. then we could choose any type of frame and use all our passe-partouts (cardboard, linen, velvet) to enhance our subject. We will be forced to use glass or crilex to prevent the image from coming out of the front.

If what we are going to frame is a canvas or a panel thicker than 5 mm, then the frames to be chosen will necessarily have to be higher and therefore you can only use those with a stop of at least 20 mm. You can use our "frame characteristics filter" to help you select only models with an intermediate or high stop.
In addition, our system will indicate the thickness available for your subject based on the configuration you are setting up.
This framing does not necessarily require glass and the passe-partouts to be used should be made of wood and not cardboard as in the previous mode.

The second piece of advice is on the size of the frame.
If your subject is larger than 50x60 cm, it is advisable to use a frame that is 4 cm wider to prevent the wood from sagging over time.
